Sad to realize that I post so little now that I will have two Daring Baker posts in a row!
This is what we made this time. Looks right up my alley, right?
Well now that I am openly pregnant, I can tell you that most of what I say, think, and taste can just be disregarded. (on that note, maybe you should check out the other Daring Baker's results and opinions with this project. They look beautiful! Find the daring bakers blogroll here http://daringbakersblogroll.blogspot.com/)
I only ate a small peice of this and I ended up throwing most of the leftovers away. I don't blame the recipe, or even myself. I shall blame the baby because on a normal day I would love a rich, homemade tart created with some of my favorite things- chocolate mousse, a buttery hazelnut crust, and caramel. The components sound too good to be true.
But, unfortunately, lately I prefer doritos. (?)
My family liked the tart but they thought it was too rich. Everybody's favorite part was the chocolate mousse which they were using as strawberry dip. I think "to-die-for" would be an appropriate phrase to describe it, though I can't remember how they described it.
I am telling you what THEY thought since I am just no judge of food at this time. Hence the lack of food blogging.
The tart was easy to make, but since the mousse was the biggest hit (and it took only 5 minutes to make) I think that is the only part I will make again (as a strawberry dip, of course!)
FOR THE RECIPE: I must refer you to one of our lovely hosts this month, Patricia at Technicolor Kitchen http://technicolorkitcheninenglish.blogspot.com/ or Veronica at Kitchen Musings http://kitchenmusings.typepad.com/my_weblog/2007/08/of-chocolate-an.html

Congrats on the pregnancy! It is a shame that twice in a row you are not enjoying the challenges but you did manage to make a great looking tart in the end!
How dedicated you are to make it even when you have a hard time eating it!! I wish my mousse would have turned out as well as yours...
That caramel layer oozing from beneath the mousse is very appealing! I'm sorry you were not able to enjoy your tart...but at least your family did. It is indeed very rich so little pieces at a time is the best way to have it.
Congrats on your pregnancy! Yes, that can upend your tastebuds sometimes, (not to mention other er bodyparts).
Good for you to go ahead and do the challenge. Well done!
Congrats on your pregnancy! Your tart looks great, even if it didnt agree with you. Babies have a mind of their own, even in utero. Maybe the next challenge will be something on the saltier side for ya! xo
I admire you for giving the tart a go while you obviously have far more important things happening. Congratulations on the pregnancy!
Congrats on the pregnancy Holly! It must be hard baking and cookign when you dont have the urge to eat... but more credit to you that you did te challenge! Well done! you should have shipped the leftovers to me - coz I'm a glutton too!!!
Congratulations all round! Hope you get your sweet tooth back soon.
It was very rich, wasn't it. Way to go to take part when you've got lots of other stuff going on. Congrats!
Congratulations on the baby!
And thank you for participating, even though you hadn't had time lately.
Congrats on your pregnancy! I'm very excited for you! Your tart looks wonderful and it's a pity that you can't enjoy it. But anyway, the ooey gooey caramelly layer looks to die for!
Hmm, Doritos sound good after reading almost all the DB posts.
I think your family had the right idea. Who can go wrong with a chocolate whipped cream and strawberries!?
Congrats on your pregnancy....yes babies can be picky about what is going into you.
I didn't realize you were pregnant - congratulations! =)
I laughed out loud at the dorito cravings.. hehee
And kudos to you for still making the challenge - you did a great job!
xoxo
Congratulations on your pregnancy! It's too bad that it's keeping you from your chocolate, but hopefully a baby will go a little ways towards making up for it!
Happy infantcipation! Your tart is lovely. And at least you are hungry for Doritos, tuna patties is all I could eat for 9 months, UGH!
Having been pregnant a few times, I totally understand the food issues you are going through and applaud you for persisting through it! Great work Daring Baker!
No this is not the dessert you have two pieces of and most especially not in those first months of a pregnancy. So odd, I didn't like the mousse very much at all but oh my I did love that caramel. Sorry you didn't enjoy it. I can promise you your enjoyment of food will return shortly.
I love the picture with the bit of caramel oozing out the side, Yum! Beautiful tart! And congratulations :D
Your tart looks great, shame you didn't enjoy it. Nothing wrong with Doritos though :)
Ah, the joys of pregnancy...congratulations and sorry that some foods no longer appeal...that will pass, too. Your slice looks so delectible with gooey carmael and fluffy mousse. Some challenge recipes are keepers, but most seem inspire future fixes. Love the strawberry and mousse idea.
Congrats! I'm sorry you didn't like the tart but it looked great though! :)
Congrats on your pregnancy, and I'm sending virtual hugs because I was in your shoes a year ago...pregnant with taste buds all out of whack and still trying to feed my family something other than watermelon, which was about the only food I could stand last summer! Your tart turned out pretty!
Echoing the congratulations on your pregnancy and condolences that this month's challenge didn't work better for you. My thoughts are with you and your family during this special time.
Great job on your tart (Even if it wasn't dorito flavoured). Good luck on your pregnancy.
Your tart looks great.
I have tagged you for a meme. Hope that is ok.
Congrats of your pregnancy.
